About Treatments and Testing

Treatments and Testing

During the course of your naturopathic treatment, a combination of the following therapies may be used in your personalized treatment plan:

  • Clinical Nutrition – Clinical nutrition involves the therapeutic use of food and diet as well as vitamin and mineral supplementation as required for optimal health.
  • Botanical (Herbal) Medicine – Botanical medicines made from plants and taken in the form of teas, tinctures, capsules and topical applications for various therapeutic effects.
  • Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) – TCM involves the use of acupuncture, diet modification and Chinese herbal formulations to create balance and achieve health. Acupuncture is useful for many different conditions, both acute and chronic.
  • Homeopathy – Homeopathy, originating from the 1700’s in Europe, uses remedies based on tiny doses of plant, animal and mineral substances to stimulate and heal the body. Homeopathy is a very safe form of medicine that does not interact with other medicinal substances.
  • Prevention and Lifestyle Counseling – Preventing future disease is a primary focus of Naturopathic Medicine. Lifestyle counseling involves helping patients make healthy choices so that they can achieve better health in the present and future.

If bloodwork is required to understand what is happening with your health, Dr. Joanna can order and interpret any blood test through LifeLabs and CML. Dr. Joanna also offers testing for food allergies and parasites, urine tests, and hair mineral analysis.

Dr. Joanna has met the standards for Therapeutics and Prescribing, which means she is able to prescribe Bio-Identical Hormone Replacement Therapy (estrogen and progesterone) and Thyroid Hormones.  Dr. Joanna works with Beechwood Wellness Pharmacy to have these treatments compounded and dispensed to patients.
