Treatments

During the course of your naturopathic treatment, a combination of the following therapies may be used in your personalized treatment plan:

  • Clinical Nutrition – Clinical nutrition involves the therapeutic use of food and diet as well as vitamin and mineral supplementation as required for optimal health.
  • Botanical (Herbal) Medicine – Botanical medicines are made from plants and taken in the form of teas, tinctures, capsules and topical applications for various therapeutic effects.
  • Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) – TCM involves the use of acupuncture, diet modification and Chinese herbal formulations to create balance and achieve health. Acupuncture is useful for many different conditions, both acute and chronic.
  • Homeopathy – Homeopathy, originating from the 1700’s in Europe, uses remedies based on tiny doses of plant, animal and mineral substances to stimulate and heal the body. Homeopathy is a very safe form of medicine that does not interact with other medicinal substances.
  • Physical Medicine – Physical medicine involves hydrotherapy, massage and spinal manipulation. Hydrotherapy is the use of hot and cold water to stimulate the circulatory and immune systems. Spinal manipulation is used to correct problems of alignment within the spinal column.
  • Prevention and Lifestyle Counseling – Preventing future disease is a primary focus of naturopathic medicine. Lifestyle counseling involves helping patients make healthy choices so that they can achieve better health in the present and future.

What can I expect on my first visit to the clinic?

Your first visit with a naturopathic doctor is 1.5 hours long and will involve a physical exam. During this time your N.D. will have a chance to obtain valuable information about your current health, your medical history and your lifestyle. This information will then be used to create a custom treatment plan that is tailored to you as an individual. Follow-up visits range in length from 30-60 minutes.
